Last Week This Morning: Did Kern illegally use campaign funds for J6 trip?

Good morning, Rj! Happy Sunday! ☀️

Did Anthony Kern illegally use campaign funds for J6 trip? A new complaint alleges that State Senator Anthony Kern charged his campaign for travel expenses to attend the January 6th rally that led to a violent attack on the U.S. Capitol – two months after his failed re-election bid. Kern has also played a significant role in pushing MAGA attacks on our democracy in Arizona. He was a notable member of the fake MAGA elector slate that is now under investigation, and he regularly uses his position as a state lawmaker to push conspiracy theories about our elections and attack our voting rights.

ICYMI: Attorney General Kris Mayes is protecting our youth. Mayes has joined 40 other states in a lawsuit against Meta, alleging that Facebook and Instagram are addictive and harmful to kids. Social media companies like Meta formulate their products to maximize profits and often go unchecked when their algorithms prey on young kids’ minds and damage their mental health. Many advocates are pushing to pass Age-Appropriate Design Code model bills to create a safer and more empowered internet.

KidsCare Expansion. Arizona recently expanded eligibility for KidsCare (CHIP), a program created to help guarantee access to health care for Arizona children whose parents can’t afford it. As a result of this expansion, thousands more Arizona kids will see the benefits of improved child health and better education outcomes, setting kids up to thrive no matter their background. KidsCare is a prime example of what lawmakers can do when they come together to deliver real solutions for Arizona families. Read more from State Rep. Oscar De Los Santos about what KidsCare expansion means for Arizona!

Kari Lake is the same anti-abortion extremist. She’ll say anything to get elected, but her agenda to ban abortion is clear.

Vote yes on school district bonds and overrides!Tuesday, November 7th, is Election Day in some school districts and cities across the state. While it’s too late to mail your ballot back, you can return it at a drop box or vote in person on Tuesday (in most counties)!

We urge Arizonans to contact their Representatives and request a ceasefire in Gaza, and for the U.S. to call on Israel to allow humanitarian aid into Gaza. A blockade on water, fuel, and other supplies has left the healthcare system in a state of collapse, and indiscriminate bombings are killing civilians and demolishing essential infrastructure. According to U.N. Human Rights Council experts, these attacks put the people of Palestine at risk of genocide.
