Peter ,
Congress has until September 30th to avoid a possible government shutdown—but extremists in the House are holding our government hostage over outrageous demands.
A right-wing faction is threatening to block critical funding for our families and communities unless their demands of impeaching President Biden and building a border wall are met.1
We cannot allow our government to be held hostage by a small group of extremist lawmakers who are out of step with the American people. It’s critical that members of the House—regardless of party affiliation—stand up to these far-right extremists and prevent them from holding our government hostage.
Click here to send a direct message to your representative urging them to stand up to House extremists and don’t give in to their demands.
SIGN & SENDAlready we’re seeing drastic cuts proposed to nutrition programs like SNAP and WIC, millions of people being disenrolled from state Medicaid programs, and the number of evictions skyrocketing due to eviction moratoriums ending. Child care funding is running out, and if nothing is done to replace it, one out of three child care centers could close. House-proposed K-12 education cuts could result in well over 220,000 teachers or other school staff losing their jobs. The last thing we need is a government shutdown over extremist demands.
Now is the time to invest in communities by protecting nutrition programs, Head Start, education, rental vouchers, child care, and other vital services.
We’re at a critical juncture in our nation’s history and we cannot allow a handful of extremists to hold us hostage.
Send a direct message to Congress demanding they stand up to extremists in the House, avert a government shutdown, and invest in communities.
Thank you for all you do,
