The event begins in the St Patrick Soup Kitchen at 25 N. Mulberry Street in Troy. We will start with a slideshow presentation on the history of Hayner Distilling from Doug Tremblay of the Museum of Troy History.
We will travel back in time to 1866 when Hayner began along the banks of the Great Miami River. We’ll review their tremendous growth into the nations largest mail order whiskey business until prohibition shut the doors in 1920.
After the slideshow we will take a short walking tour of Hayner buildings still standing and the remnants of buildings long gone.
The event concludes on the second floor of a 115 year old Hayner Distilling building for a presentation and bourbon tasting with Greg Taylor from Hayner Distilling. Greg will share how the Hayner whiskey brand was revived after 100 years. You will also have the chance to try the new Hayner Bourbon alongside other Hayner spirits. (Non alcoholic drinks and snacks will also be available.)
The walking part of the tour does involve walking over uneven surfaces, railroad tracks and steep steps. For the first hour of the event we will be seated in a handicap accessible building.
