Playing guitar was my first love.
I remember the first time my fingers stumbled across the frets with graceless urgency. My fingers were sore and the riffs weren’t that slick.
But I loved every second of it.
And I’m so fortunate to have made building guitars and teaching students my life’s work. It’s truly a labor of love.
But sometimes — just like YOU — I need a little break.
So for me, Labor Day is a time to relax and enjoy the last days of summer before I start to settle in for the fall. I like to spend the day outside with my family and take a break from my everyday responsibilities.
Still, I always find time to make some music on my guitar.
Some days you might be tempted to skip practicing guitar, but let me tell you… mastery comes with repetition. And playing for just a few minutes each day really helps to gain that much-needed muscle memory.
So this holiday weekend, my challenge for you is to find a little time to practice a short segment of a song you want to master, or maybe the first few lines of a new one.
I hope you and your family have a wonderful Labor Day… filled with music and love.
Best,
Denny Zager
