We’re seeing lots of interest in rum again, and some of the most exciting and interesting barrels we’ve had the opportunity to try have come from the team at Rolling Fork.
We’ve had a number of great barrels from Rolling Fork over the years, and today’s release is no exception. This barrel was an 8 year rum distilled in Barbados by Foursquare, a blend from both pot and column distilled. It was asleep an additional year by Rolling Fork in a wheated bourbon cask from an undisclosed distillery, we’ll let you draw your own conclusions from the cask number. Fun fact: a sister cask to this one won “Rum of the Year” at this year’s Ascot Awards. Plus, the gold foil top will blend right in to your vertical.
Creamy vanilla bean and underlying chocolate ganache, lemon oil, orange peel, and sweet brûléed oak. After taking your first few sips, revists to the nose bring out fresh berries.
The palate is rich custard, sweet forward without being sickly sweet. Fresh raspberries with powdered sugar, lingering with elegant oak.
One of the easiest drinking rums I’ve had in awhile, and dangerously good.
