When we think of sleep, we usually think of our own nightly routines winding down and drifting off to dreamland. But did you know that there’s an animal out there that never sleeps at all? That’s right, the bullfrog stays wide awake 24 hours a day, seven days a week. While we might envy their seemingly endless energy, researchers have found that this constant alertness could be due to the bullfrog’s unique breathing system. Rather than relying on inhaling and exhaling through their nostrils like we do, bullfrogs breathe through their skin, allowing them to stay active round the clock.
