The CIS Ombudsman’s Webinar Series:
Engagement with USCIS on the Streamlined, Fee-Exempted Re-parole Application Process for Certain Afghan Nationals
Tuesday, June 27, 2023
2:30-3:30 p.m. Eastern Time
The Department of Homeland Security’s Office of the Citizenship and Immigration Services Ombudsman (CIS Ombudsman) invites you to participate in an informational session regarding the new re-parole application process for certain Afghan nationals on Tuesday, June 27 from 2:30-3:30 p.m. Eastern.
Acting CIS Ombudsman Nathan Stiefel will engage in a dialogue with representatives from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) to provide information on the new streamlined, fee-exempted re-parole application process for certain Afghan nationals in the United States. Beginning June 8, these individuals can apply for re-parole and employment authorization renewal in one filing. During the engagement, USCIS and ORR representatives will share an overview of the application process and resources available to these applicants.
This will be an information sharing and gathering session. We encourage you to submit written questions and comments during the engagement. The CIS Ombudsman will use participant feedback (without attribution) to assist USCIS and ORR in their mission to provide immigration options and resources for Afghan nationals who have been paroled into the United States.
