Gosar Votes Against Runaway Spending and Additional Debt
The district work period was cut short this week as I was called back to Washington, D.C. to vote onH.R. 3746, the Fiscal Responsibility Act, legislation to increase the debt ceiling by $4 trillion until January 1, 2025. I joined 70 of my Republican colleagues in voting HELL NO on this crap sandwich.
Joe Biden has wasted more than $10 trillion in new taxpayer dollars in just his first two years in office. As a result, the United States is currently over $31 trillion dollar in debt because of Joe Biden’s reckless runaway spending. I could not in good conscious vote to increase the debt ceiling by another $4 trillion without reining in spending.
This bill that just passed the House is not where near the proposal Republicans passed earlier this year, which would have required significant federal spending reforms.
Instead, the Fiscal Responsibility Act fails to significantly change Washington’s spending addiction. The legislation contains zero provisions to secure the southern border, does not rescind funding for an additional 87,000 IRS agents to harass families in Arizona, and gives Joe Biden and democrats unlimited ability to borrow and spend vast amounts of more money for nearly two years.
Continually raising the debt ceiling without addressing government spending is the reason for today’s historically high inflation and anemic economy. Families and small businesses in my district are suffering. Congress must address long-term fiscal imbalances by drastically reducing unnecessary and wasteful spending and enact policies that promote growth while tackling our out-of-control debt.
The Fentanyl Epidemic: Gosar Votes to Stop It
Fentanyl is the leading cause of death for Americans ages 18-45 yet the Biden administration’s refusal to secure our southern border is directly responsible for this drug crisis. Biden has ignored the problem and allowed the fallout of the crisis to affect American cities across the country.
Last week, I joined my Republican colleagues in Congress and passed the HALT Fentanyl Act. This bill will authorize the Drug Enforcement Administration to permanently classify fentanyl-related substances as a Schedule I narcotic, which provides law enforcement agencies the authority they need to help put an end to the drug trafficking that has turned every American city into a border city.
Earlier this year, I also introduced the Death Penalty for Dealing Fentanyl Act, legislation that would punish a defendant with the death penalty or life in prison if convicted of selling or distributing fentanyl.
Each passing day, fentanyl brings death and despair to communities across America, including in Arizona. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 196 Americans are dying each day from fentanyl, and more than 2,000 pounds of the deadly drug pour across our open southern border every month. Meanwhile, Joe Biden does nothing to close the border or penalize the drug cartels and others known to be trafficking deadly drugs.
From the border, inflation, crime, and the debt ceiling, Mr. Biden and democrats in Congress have failed to do their jobs. While they blunder our nation into crisis after crisis, House Republicans are determined to get tough on those criminals that are contributing to this drug crisis.
Gosar Sponsor Bill to Help States Bypass Biden’s Open Border Policies
Earlier this week, I sponsored H.R. 92, the State Immigration Enforcement Act, legislation introduced by my good friend, Representative Andy Biggs. Since Joe Biden has refused to enforce immigration laws by declining to deport illegal aliens and incentivizing millions more to enter our country, this legislation allows states and localities to pass and enforce laws that mirror federal immigration laws. When introducing his bill, Congressman Biggs said it best by noting:
“Congress must authorize states to act because the Biden Administration has refused to enforce our nation’s federal immigration laws amid a historic invasion. My bill will allow states to bypass the Biden Administration’s America last open border policies and restore the rule of law.”
What’s the Latest on Ukraine?
Is Ukraine selling our weapons to drug cartels in Mexico and to Nigeria? Some say yes. Some say no. Newsweek attempts to debunk it but even their own effort falls short.
Let’s just check on the Ukraine Army and see what they’re up to…yep: still Nazis. I oppose getting involved in this war in Europe for many reasons. One big reason is that there are tens of thousands of Ukrainian Nazis in the Ukraine military. Not neo-Nazis. Just Nazis. Still don’t believe me? Read this and this to learn what Ukraine is really about, and how it is an active state supporting Nazis. I want no part of this and neither should you.
Our fathers and grandfathers didn’t die on the beaches of Normandy, or the hills of Anzio, or the forests of Belgium, to see their descendants supporting Nazis with over $200 billion in military aid.
Now the Biden regime, desperate to prop up a country that has openly bribed the Bidens, is planning to send our F-16 planes and long range missiles to the belligerent nation of Ukraine.
This is a dramatic and desperate escalation.
Russia has stated that the more long-range weapons we give Ukraine, the deeper into Ukraine it will be forced to go to ensure a buffer for Russia proper. In short, we are sleep-walking our way into a major war. I stand for peace. I stand for securing our border. I reject Nazis and the corrupt Ukraine regime and the corrupt Biden family.
Not one dime of our tax money should go to assist this corrupt regime. Our border is still wide open. We should focus our military effort there. Secure our border now. Instead, we are spending over $200 billion in our money and weapons on another country’s borders. This is immoral, a disgrace and an affront to every American.
It’s Mail Time!
I receive thousands of letters every month and I appreciate hearing from my constituents. Here’s a small sample of the letters I received just this week:
Sheryl Dawson from Flagstaff is asking for God to intervene in our country:
The corruption in our government and security agencies is overwhelming. I am over 70 and now realize that the corruption has been ongoing my entire life. We need God’s intervention to overcome.
Sheryl, God bless you. Millions of Americans have had their eyes opened with you. We have federal agencies lying to the American public almost daily. We have them engaging in coup-like activities. They lie to Congress. They lie to the courts. They lie to the media. They have been and continue to target conservative Americans for political persecution. We need God to help this country and it starts with prayer.

Pass along our THANKS to Congressman Gosar for his “No” vote on the debt ceiling spending bill!!!
Thank you, Mark and JoAnne! I appreciate your words and I will never forget people like you in Golden Valley who are taxed to death and are tired of the federal government working against the people. I’ll be in Golden Valley for my Coffee with the Congressman soon. Look for my notice.
Jack N. from Phoenix shared his thoughts on the debt ceiling vote:
Thanks to Congressman Gosar for voting against the bill that was neither fiscally sound nor responsible.
Thank you, Jack. Honestly, I was a little surprised how many of my Republican colleagues voted for it—all of them claiming to be fiscal hawks and small government proponents. Votes like this separate the men from the boys. I am proud to stand with the men and women who voted no.
Robert L. from Florence, AZ takes umbrage with my vote against the debt ceiling:
I would share your outrage with Biden if you would have cared when Trump increased the deficit by $6.6 trillion in only four years in office. So, I assume since Trump is bad for the deficit you will not endorse him in 2024.
Robert, I support President Trump because, under very difficult circumstances, he fought for the people of this country. His love of the people is clear and unadulterated. That being said, I don’t always, nor do I have to, agree with the President on every issue. Nor, I am certain, does he always agree with me. No rationale adult would insist otherwise. I have consistently voted for reduced federal spending and balanced budgets. No matter who is president. I believe in smaller government and lower taxes. My voting record proves this for the last 12 years.
