Arizonans like you and I know that the border and immigration crisis is not new – but with Title 42 ending, our communities must manage a crisis they did not create made worse by increasing levels of migration at the Southwest border.
Despite our calls for more than a year, the Administration failed to implement a realistic plan to manage the end of Title 42. Arizona communities now face what could have been an avoidable humanitarian and security crisis.

Rj, you and I both know that Arizonans cannot afford any more inaction by the federal government to fix our broken border and immigration system.
- Working side by side with local leaders: I’ve been in constant contact with local leaders like Governor Hobbs, border mayors and sheriffs, Arizona Border Patrol and Customs and Border Protection leadership, and non-profits – ensuring Arizona has a strategic, coordinated response to manage the influx of migrants coming to our border.
- Securing & delivering funds: Last week, I secured $45.4 million for the incredible non-profits on the frontlines of the border crisis so they can continue providing critical assistance to migrants – helping to mitigate the impacts on our communities.
- Introducing bipartisan legislation: The bipartisan legislation I introduced gives the Administration a tool that resembles the operations of Title 42 – allowing the federal government more time to put a plan in place that actually secures our border, protects Arizona communities, and ensures migrants are treated fairly and humanely.
- Showing my colleagues the crisis firsthand: I am bringing a bipartisan group of my colleagues to the Arizona border for a third time at the end of this month. Showing folks from other parts of the country what Arizona border communities experience every day helps them better understand the realities of this crisis and the need to work across the aisle to deliver lasting solutions.
That’s what I do – bring people together to solve the issues that actuallymatter to the people that we serve. That’s exactly what I’ll continue doing to secure our border, give Arizona families peace of mind, and ensure migrants are treated fairly and humanely.
