2. Clean water helps health facilities thrive

Water powers the lifesaving work that hospitals and health facilities do every day. But until last year, Kibondo District Hospital in rural western Tanzania was without a dependable water supply. That meant the burden fell to patients, health workers and staff to pay for it, bring their own or else risk infection. Thanks to Americares, clean water flows freely in all wards.

4. Living with tuberculosis during wartime

The violence and devastation of war makes health care even more important for those struggling with life-threatening illnesses.
