Join Us for Our March Monthly Meeting TONIGHT!

It is not too late to join us for our March Monthly Meeting TONIGHT, Monday, March 27th from 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM of a NAMI Family and Friends Seminar! NAMI Family and Friends is a 90-minute seminar that informs and supports people who have loved ones with a mental health condition. Participants learn about diagnoses, treatment, recovery, communication strategies, crisis prevention and NAMI resources. Seminar leaders have personal experience with mental health conditions in their families. For more information and registration, click here.

Leader Trainings

The dates have been set for NAMI Virginia’s early 2023 Program Leader Trainings! If you have benefitted from one of our NAMI signature support & education programs, and feel like you would like to give back and help provide hope for others, we are currently accepting applications for new NAMI Program Leaders! Program Leaders are dedicated and trained volunteers, committed to helping us lead our local programs. NAMI Virginia has scheduled training dates for NAMI Peer-to-Peer class facilitators, NAMI Family-to-Family class facilitators, and NAMI Family Support Group facilitators. If you have been a participant in any of these programs and would like to apply, fill out our volunteer interest survey, linked below!

News from our Partners…

Help our friends at NAMI Coastal Virginia with the creation of a streaming video of young adults recording themselves saying 3 short statements about stigma as a tribute to a loved one lost to mental illness. It’s called the “The Alexa Project” and statements are due by March 31.

Healthy Minds Fairfax and JSSA are creating a Youth Advisory Council and are looking for applicants! Applicants must be: 14-22 years old; live in Fairfax County; and have lived experience with mental health conditions and/or navigated systems such as Foster Care, Juvenile Justice, mental/behavioral programs, and Homeless Services.

No prior exprience needed as participants will receive the training and support needed.

Formed Families Forward has opened registration for their 10th Annual Spring Forward Foster, Adoptive and Kinship Family Fun Day! Join FFF on Saturday, April 22nd from 8:30 AM – 2 PMat George Mason University’s Science and Technology Campus in Manassas, VA.

While parents, cargivers and professionals are enjoying sessions presented by experts in education and support of foster, adoptive and kinship families, children age 5 and older will have a blast at GMU’s outdoor experimental learning program“The EDGE.”
