Here’s what happened to the MARSOC 3 Raiders…
On New Year’s Eve in 2018, Chief Petty Officer Eric Gilmet and Gunnery Sergeants Danny Draher and Josh Negron were assaulted while trying to take a much-needed break on deployment at a local bar in Erbil, Iraq.
All was well until Gilmet, Draher, and Negron decided to go home for the evening and a contractor outside the bar confronted them.
Despite trying to avoid a confrontation with him, the contractor struck one of the Warriors twice in the face and was in the process of throwing a third punch. In defense of his Marine brother, one of the men struck the contractor – just once – and sent him to the ground.
The Marines stayed with the man for hours, even bringing him back to base for medical care throughout the night after his “friends” abandoned him.
The contractor tragically passed due to complications from his intoxicated state. Soon after the man’s death, the MARSOC 3 were charged with manslaughter, sending a tragic blow to their livelihoods and families.
What followed was one of the most unjust trials our military justice system has ever seen.
Friend, the MARSOC 3 faced 25 years in prison for crimes they didn’t commit. They fought against bias, unlawful command influence, and intense intimidation tactics.
With the help of United American Patriots, we were able to help secure justice for two of the Raiders!
GySgt Draher and GySgt Negron were recently found NOT GUILTY by a jury for negligent homicide and involuntary manslaughter.
But our work is far from over. Eric Gilmet is still facing 25 years in prison.
