Thank you for contacting me regarding H.R. 21, the Strategic Production Response Act.
Since President Biden took office, his administration has depleted our Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) by nearly 42%. While the SPR is intended to provide relief for national energy supply shortages, such as after a natural disaster. President Biden used SPR drawdowns to mask the expensive impacts of his America-Last energy policies. The Biden Administration has surrendered American energy independence and enacted policies that have caused gas prices to more than double over the past two years. To bring down energy prices and help the American people, Congress must roll back President Biden’s misguided policies and unleash American energy production once again.
It is possible to both protect the environment and engage in responsible energy production. In fact, reducing our dependence on foreign energy producers – as we did during the Trump Administration – is better for the overall environment as the United States has higher safety and environmental standards than most energy producing nations.
I voted for H.R. 21 because it forces the Administration to prepare plans to replace the removed reserves, ensuring our nation’s energy needs aren’t jeopardized. I will always fight for American energy production and American energy independence.
