Happy New Year to all of our Members! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season with your friends and family.
2022 was a great year and we appreciate all of the feedback we received on the most recent Member Satisfaction Survey. It was great to read what you think we’re doing well and where we have room to improve. Two of our biggest areas of focus are inconsistencies in Food & Beverage and in Member Communications. Additionally, I’ve asked each department leader to share a little bit of where they and their team will be focusing their efforts in the coming year. So without further ado, let’s get into it!
Golf Operations With Damian Lane-Lehew, Director of Golf
Our main focus for 2023 is on the Members’ experience both on and off the golf course. We will continue to elevate the service experience and tweak as needed. Last year, we made major strides with the implementation of ForeTees, GPS on the range, the new fleet power carts, and more.
Additionally, we look forward to the following projects and enhancements this year:
Improved On-Course Furnishings, including benches and water coolers
Improved Range Furnishings, including bag stands and chairs
Sports Shop Refresh, with new floors and paint
Additional Events, like Men’s Night Out
Elevated Service Standards with Service Expansion on the 9 and 18 Greens
Increase On-Course Staff Presence
Continued ForeTees modifications, as needed
Higher Communication Standards
Improved Tournaments
These are just some of the things the team and I will be focused on. I look forward to the continued efforts of us all to make Encanterra a Club we are all proud of.
Golf Course Conditions With Alex Ward, Golf Course Superintendent
The primary focus of the Golf Course Maintenance Team in 2023 is to continue to improve and provide consistency. Over the last 12 months, the team has accomplished and completed a number of projects, including Phase 2 of the bunker project, implementation of practices to reduce migrating bird populations, completed a successful overseed, and improved playing conditions. With the next 12 months, our goal is to build upon those accomplishments and continue to improve in all areas and make Encanterra the envy of all clubs in the Valley.
Here are our top five projects:
Plan and execute a 52-Week Agronomy Plan to lead to a successful spring/summer transition and fall overseed.
Complete Phase 3 of Bunker Renovation.
Replace and upgrade of 70% of the golf course maintenance equipment fleet.
Improve to the golf course irrigation pump station.
Focus on training of the maintenance staff on proper procedures and techniques.
Since day one, the goal of the Golf Course Maintenance team has been to improve each day, learn from our successes as well as our failures, make adjustments (when necessary), grow as a group, and provide the best possible playing conditions for the Members. The team looks forward to a successful year in 2023.
Food & Beverage With Cornelius Cover, Director of Food & Beverage
New Year, New Focus
Food & Beverage’s top focus in 2023 is on training. We’re going back to the basics of service and will work to fine tune every aspect of the experience – from the moment you walk in to when you pull out of the parking lot.
Our goal is to make Members to feel welcome and appreciated when they come to the Club, and we will be trying our best to anticipate your needs and streamline the dining process. Your experience should be elevated yet casual.
New Year, New Staff
Staffing remains a top priority for us, ensuring we have enough skilled team members to make your experience at any one of our dining outlets great. You may have already noticed some new faces, including managers, bartenders, servers, server assistants, hosts, and cooks, but we hope to continue to hire team members that will enhance our services. If you see someone new, I encourage you to introduce yourself and say hi. They want to get to know you and craft new ways to make your dining experience perfect!
New Year, New Menu
In the next few weeks, we will be changing the menu in Palma Kitchen + Tap and adding some new dishes (while keeping some favorites). The dessert menu will also receive a refresh, so if you have a sweet tooth, get ready! Once the menu is released, if there is something you’d like to see that isn’t on the menu, please let us know. We are going to start working on the NEXT menu change as soon as this one is published.
New Year, New Wine
Of course, we are adding new wines! It’s been a little while since the wine list was updated and we are excited to introduce more diversity that will leave you wanting to come back to try them all. We will also be adding a few new cocktails and after dinner drinks.
Lifestyle With Drew Raitch, Lifestyle Director
The fun never stops when it comes to lifestyle! This year, we’ll be focusing on offering Members plenty of new adventures both on and off-site. Travel is at top of mind as we look to go to new destinations both internationally and within the U.S. As always, keep an eye on MTL for the latest and greatest in Lifestyle!
Spa and Fitness With Tabalyn Dosier, Encanterra Country Club
Mossa Athletic Club is focused on bringing Members new fitness programming with Tai Chi classes, Yoga classes, and various bootcamps (as well as evening classes/programming!). We’ve recently purchased more equipment for classes to help with our expanding participation and allowing more availability in class.
Alvea Spa is excited for a future remodel and refresh to help with expanding service availability, as well as introducing new offerings. We want to strive to give each Member and guest the best possible experience here living the ‘good life!’.
Facilities Maintenance With Mark Alexander, Facilities Director
La Casa will be getting a refresh, most likely beginning in late Spring/Summer. This will include new furnishings in the Grand Living Room, La Cocina, Explorations Café, The Vault, and as mentioned above, the Sports Shop and Spa.
The Club Maintenance Team will be focusing on three things that support our BlueStar 10 principles, including:
100% Accountability, which is delivering on promises and meet our high quality and performance standards.
Own and Resolve, which is doing the right thing.
Zone of Beauty, which is taking personal responsibility for maintaining relentless focus on the cleanliness and condition of our Club.
I would like to thank you all for your support over the past year and we look forward to serving you in 2023.
Sincerely,
Trish Huff General Manager, Encanterra Country Club

Michelle’s Community Architectural and Compliance Update
Encanterra’s Rules, Regulations, and Fine Policies are always available on the MTL website!
Here are some tips to avoid unwanted fines:
Exterior paint inspections in the community have begun. Inspections include:
Faded garage doors and/or garage doors painted a non-approved color.
Faded trim; and
Faded home body exteriors.
If any area of your home needs a refresh, you will receive a courtesy notice and sufficient time to complete the improvements. *Please note, the standard lifetime of exterior paint in Arizona is about 5-7 years, due to the constant sun exposure.
Please remember that overnight street parking is prohibited. Violators will receive a $100 fine.
Federal regulations require us to verify the age of homeowners living in our age restricted neighborhoods every two years. If you received a notice for age verification, please email me a copy of your driver’s license, (mwerlinger@associatedasset.com) or present it to us in the HOA office.
If you are not sure about any community guideline or rule, always ask. We are more than happy to help you in any way we can!
As always, thank you for your support and diligence in maintaining our beautiful community!
