On the two-year anniversary of the Jan. 6 Capitol attack, the U.S. House of Representatives is still in a deadlock. After four days and 11 votes, there is still no Speaker of the House, with neither Republican Kevin McCarthy nor a group of House Republicans showing signs of backing down.
Also, while on a trip to Kentucky, President Joe Biden said that he intends to visit the U.S.-Mexico border for the first time since taking office. Biden said he wants to “see what’s going on” at the border before traveling to Mexico City to meet with leaders of Mexico and Canada.
And newly elected Governor Katie Hobbs wasted no time getting to work after taking the oath of office Monday. During her inaugural address, Hobbs pledged to work with her political rivals to solve issues in the state.
