Federal Bill Does Not Pass U.S. Senate Floor by Unanimous Consent

December 15, 2022

Dear CROWN Supporter,

Yesterday, Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) took to the United States Senate Floor and made the case for the passage of the CROWN Act by unanimous consent.

It is with deep disappointment that we share the federal bill did not pass and will not become federal law at this time, as we all hoped and worked so hard to advocate for.

I’m sure all of you mirror our dismay, but we can continue to be encouraged knowing that we will not rest until we outlaw race discrimination based on natural hair texture and protective hairstyles nationwide.

It is paramount to a legislative and cultural movement as important as the CROWN Act, that we keep the momentum going and continue to galvanize support. Please continue to lift your voices and leverage your platforms to create urgency for this issue! Please share the link to the CROWN Act petition across your social media pages and encourage others to do the same. We must end hair discrimination once and for all!

As always, thank you for your continued support!

All my best,
Esi Eggleston Bracey
