Good morning RJ,
With Election Day over and most of the votes counted, officials are trying to figure out what to do with the results. In Maricopa, the failure of Proposition 469 was a great disappointment to many. The funds from the proposed sales tax would have helped improve several local roadways. However, Mayor Nancy Smith is optimistic, that with a few revisions, the city can still meet some of its transportation goals.
And two Pinal County legislators have scored impressive leadership positions in the new state legislature. Rep. Teresa Martinez and Sen. T.J. Shope will be serving as the majority whip in the Arizona House of Representatives and the president pro tempore in the Arizona Senate respectively. See what they had to say about taking on their new responsibilities.
At the Casa Grande Elementary School District, Superintendent Adam Leckie was mulling over a different set of results. Leckie gave the district board a recap of his first 100 days in office and his take on the recent release of school letter grades by the Arizona Board of Education. |
