Gosar Invites Zelenskyy and Putin to Arizona for Peace Talks
The world has seen enough death and destruction among Russia and Ukraine so this week I felt compelled to send an invitation to Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin and Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to Arizona to begin conversations to deescalate nuclear tensions, terminate the war and end the unfortunate death and destruction plaguing both countries. The current posture is untenable and a pathway to peace is long overdue. Months of escalation in weaponry and rhetoric endangers not just the citizens of Russia and Ukraine, but the whole world.
More Lies by Mr. Biden, Gosar Sets the Record Straight
Joe Biden was up to his usual lies this week. On Sunday, Biden falsely claimed Congress passed a bill forgiving student loan debt stating “It’s passed. I got it passed by a vote or two.” Ummm, not quite, Joe: your unconstitutional executive order “forgiving” college loans circumvented Congress and a federal appeals court recently blocked your political stunt.
Later in the week, Biden made the preposterous claim that the price of gas “is down from over $5 when I took office.” Have you lost your mind? When Joe Biden took office in January, the nationwide price of a gallon of gas was $2.46. Gas prices hit $5 gallon more than a year into Biden’s term in office.
I won’t even go into Biden’s claim this week that there are 54 states in the Union…
Americans are looking for solutions, Joe, not more lies and senility. You can start by supporting American oil and natural gas development now and stop begging dictators and OPEC for help.
Gosar Demands FBI be Held Accountable for Attack on 2ndAmendment
This week, I joined several of my Republican colleagues in sending a letter to United States Attorney General Merrick Garland and Christopher Wray, Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) demanding that the FBI be held accountable for intimidating American citizens into signing away their right to own, purchase, and use firearms.
It has been recently uncovered that FBI personnel created a form that was secretly used to coerce Americans into “voluntarily” giving up their right to own, purchase, or use firearms. At least 15 Americans signed the form from 2016-2019, and their information was entered into the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS). These Americans had committed no crimes, but they were intimidated into signing the unconstitutional form when FBI agents ambushed them at their homes and other locations.
Our Founding Fathers ensured gun ownership in the Bill of Rights, making the right to defend one’s freedom from oppressive government uniquely American. Unfortunately, the Biden administration is engaged in an unprecedented assault on the Second Amendment and the FBI’s latest strong-arm tactics represent the greatest expansion of government infringing upon the rights of law-abiding gun owners in the United States.
Gosar Sponsor Legislation to Protect the Southern Border
Earlier this month, the Biden administration announced that the United States would provide $240 million in new assistance to help meet the needs of refugees and migrants across the Western Hemisphere. Here’s a novel approach: how about first taking care of Americans who have watched their retirement savings evaporate and are suffering from historic high inflation, high gasoline prices, sky-rocketing interest rates and an economy spiraling downward because of the Biden administration’s disastrous policies and agenda?
In response, this week I cosponsored the Border Patrol First Act, legislation that would halt the Biden administration from handing over $240 million for migrants across South America and instead will go to U.S. Customs and Border Protection to secure our southern border and reimburse the states of Texas and Arizona for their efforts in securing their states due to the Biden’s administration’s failed response at the border.
It’s Mail Time!
As the month winds down, I received nearly 4500 letters from constituents in October. To date, I have received more that 67,000 letters in 2022. You know I love hearing from you and I do my best to respond to every letter I receive. Here’s a sampling of some letters I received this week:
Carolyn K. from Prescott writes:
Dear Congressman, I was at the rally last night at the Prescott Resort and want to say thank you. You’re a good person with values, dedication, and love for the United States of America. I thank you for the work you have accomplished in helping to keep Arizona on trac. It was nice to see you. God speed.
Dear Carolyn, thanks for the very thoughtful words. One of the best parts of my job is travelling throughout my district and meeting with people from all walks of life. Despite where Biden has taken our country, I still believe America’s best days are ahead, but it certainly is going to take a significant “course correction” to keep Arizona on track. The good news is reinforcements are on the way!!
Thomas W. from Prescott Valley shares:
I just learned of the particulars of Sec. Mayorkas regarding calling the Border Patrol out of line for whipping illegals while the BP agents were on horseback. This press conference was over 2 hours after he got and read an email stating that a reporter at the scene reported that he never saw anyone being abused by the BP agents. Will the liar, Mayorkas, remain in his cushy job until Trump throws him out?
Don’t bother responding, I already know the answer, I’ve had 75 years of experience waiting for politicians to do the right thing while in office. What a shame. I am very thankful to have an outstanding representative to unload on. That’s something I could never get in California’s Boxer and Feinstein.
Thank you for your service.
Dear Thomas, the Biden administration is smearing our Border Patrol officials and it is disgusting. First, the Border Patrol was thrown under the bus by Mr. Biden falsely claiming they were whipping illegal Haitians in Del Rio, Texas. Then they were told they would fired if they didn’t get vaccinated. It is horrific that the Border Patrol agents, who spent their careers protecting the border, are being treated worse than the illegal immigrants.
Shirleen B. wrote these thoughtful words:
REP. PAUL GOSAR I was so pleased to receive your letter, thank you. It is so nice to know that ALL of my correspondence to you is always answered. I have to comment on happy I am on the great job you are doing representing Prescott KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. GOD BLESS, Shirleen Bisson.
Dear Shirleen, thanks for the note. I try my best to respond to every letter I receive. As noted, I get thousands of letters every month and hearing from constituents, whether they agree or not, is very important. You keep writing, I’ll keep responding!
Mark N. from Apache Junction offered this call to prayer:
I want you to know that you are being prayed for regularly. Whether we agree or not on issues or policies, I am praying for you as you serve. I hope that you are encouraged to know that people of faith like me are intentionally praying for leaders like you – for wisdom, for discernment, and for your family. I am one many people of faith who pray for ALL leaders at every level. I am praying for God’s best for you. One scripture that may encourage you is this from James 1:5: If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.
Thanks, Mark. I believe in the power of prayer. In fact, the Bible, in the book of Timothy, encourages Christians to pray for its leaders and those in positions of authority. So, please keep praying for me because I can certainly use your prayers. Pray that God gives me strength to continue to fight for the rights of the unborn. And pray that God gives me wisdom and be a person who seeks His will. And finally, join me in praying that God heals our land from the chaos and division.
Offering a slightly different perspective, Anne T. from Cottonwood sent this doozy to my amazing staff:
Your boss is as cuckoo as the Mad Hatter. No one will take him seriously in Ukraine or Russia. They are probably laughing their heads off and saying, “Who is this guy?” What a ploy for attention.Your – thankfully – soon to be ex-Constituent.
Dear Anne, I won’t dignify your response with more name-calling and It is clear from your note that we disagree, and that is perfectly acceptable. Elected officials are accountable to the people they represent, and if we are unwilling to accept constructive criticism, we should never have run for public office in the first place. I benefit greatly from hearing diverse opinions, especially from those with differing viewpoints. I’ll add you to my prayer list and ask that God helps you find peace.
