It’s time to tell candidates we need Mental Health Now!
Today, Inseparable launched a new campaign, Mental Health Now, to make sure that candidates running at every level of office, across the country and across the aisle, know that taking care of ourselves, our loved ones, and our communities is a top priority. More than 300 elected leaders and candidates have signed the Mental Health Now Statement of Support, which asks elected officials and those running for office to affirm their support for:
Increasing the availability of mental health care for everyone in need,
Promoting wellness and early intervention by expanding youth mental health services, and
Improving crisis response for anyone experiencing a mental health emergency.
We are a month out from election day and every day matters. Now is the time to speak out, and speak out loud: We need Mental Health Now! We know that if we work directly with elected officials, while building a strong coalition of supporters, we will make changes in mental health policy.
Officials and candidates who join Mental Health Now are entrusted to address the mental health crisis by actively supporting legislation, regulations, and/or executive actions that advance the above goals. American voters overwhelmingly want their elected officials to do more to support mental health care.
We are in a mental health crisis and it is time to step up and push our elected representatives and candidates to prioritize mental health. We need their leadership to bring systematic changes that help our youth, families, communities, and country.
It’s okay to not be okay. If you or someone you know needs help, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 988. Crisis Text Line also provides free, 24/7, confidential support via text message to people in crisis when they text HOME to 741741.
