Dem AG Maura Healey of Massachusetts is already a pioneer and a trailblazer, and this year she’s making even more history in her race to become the next governor of Massachusetts. AG Healey is running to be one of the first openly lesbian governors in the country and the first woman elected governor in Massachusetts history.
AG Healey is evidence that running and winning races in 2022 isn’t just about this year, next year, or even the next five years. It’s about building a strong and lasting group of candidates, campaign staff, and passionate voters that will carry our movement forward for years and years to come.
The next time that an openly LGBTQIA+ person decides to run for AG or for governor, it will almost certainly be in part because fearless candidates like Maura Healey paved the way.
The next Maura Healey is out there. But to elect candidates that will change the world in the decades to come, we need to be building that network and voter base in every state across the country today.
