Abortion groups in Texas are fighting tooth and nail to ensure people who help those in need of an abortion out of state are not putting themselves in legal jeopardy. Under the current law, anyone that helps someone in Texas travel to receive an abortion could be at risk.
Can you imagine being faced with the need to travel hundreds of miles out of state to receive a routine medical procedure? And to know that anyone who helped you access the care you needed could be subject to prosecution? This is horrifying.
Republican AG Ken Paxton, who is indicted for fraud, has been eager to restrict the right to an abortion since he came into office. If that scares you as much as us, we have a strong reproductive rights champion in Rochelle Garza, who is unafraid to challenge AG Paxton for his anti-abortion policies that will put Texans’ health – and privacy – at risk.
As a civil rights lawyer, Rochelle has a background in protecting reproductive rights, including the right to access an abortion. She is the advocate for Texans that we need in office, so let’s make this thing happen.
