Reminder – You’re Invited: Congressman Gosar to Host an Education Roundtable Discussion in Lake Havasu City
If you live in Lake Havasu City, Kingman, Bullhead City or Parker, please join me for a Congressional Roundtable on Education. Write this down:
What: Congressional Roundtable on Education
When: July 11th from 3:00 – 5:00 PM
Where: London Bridge Resort Convention Center
1477 Queens Bay in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.
I will be joined by educators, administrators, local leaders and others discussing several new and exciting changes for Arizona education.
Why an education roundtable? Because, Arizona is leading the charge on improving education, with a sweet assist from the Supreme Court.
For example, the United States Supreme Court (SCOTUS) recently ruled in a case out of Maine that if the state subsidizes private schools, the state cannot discriminate against religious schools. This is a major change in how funding for religious schools has been handled for decades. The Leftists had insisted that religious schools could not get taxpayer money, and SCOTUS ruled that such reasoning violates the First Amendment and constitutes a restriction on the freedom of religion.
Liberal activist judges Sotomayor and Kagan bitterly dissented.
The State of Arizona also passed a law this year that allows up to $7,000 per student to “follow the student” to whatever school the family chooses in the form of a voucher.
This too is a vast and long overdue improvement that allows parents and children to select the schools that are right for them without facing a financial penalty.
The Leftist school unions were the real opposition to this law as they see this money belonging exclusively to them. They also opposed it because of Marxist ideology, namely, their claim that only impoverished people should get a voucher. Actual hard-working families that pay the taxes can get bent, according to democrats.
On our panel will be state Rep. Leo Biasucci, who was one of the primary sponsors of the Arizona voucher law. He will be explaining the benefits this will bring to the families of Arizona.
Because space is limited, please RSVP to Penny.pew@mail.house.gov and let her know that you want to attend.
I look forward to seeing you and listening to your thoughts on these changes.
Girls are Girls and Boys are Boys!
Joe Biden caused a lot of harmon his very first day in office, this we all know. One devastating action he took was issuing an Executive Order to interpret Title IX as requiring schools to allow access to sex-segregated spaces and activities based on “gender identity.”
In case you don’t know leftist double-speak, “gender identity” is when a boy wants to be a girl or a girl wants to be boy. The Biden order specifically mentioned that it will affect restrooms, locker rooms, and sports in schools. If the order is implemented and enforced, girls will no longer have safe spaces to use a locker room to change clothing or be able to use a bathroom without a male.
Indeed, there have already been cases of boys claiming to be girls who raped actual girls in a school bathroom. This happened in Virginia—twice.
In response, this week I cosponsored, H.R. 1417, the Safety and Opportunity for Girl Act of 2021. This legislation would clarify that nothing in Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 can be interpreted to give the Biden administration the authority to prohibit schools from maintaining sex-segregated bathrooms, locker, rooms, sports teams, and academic programs. The bill also adds a clear definition of sex to Title IX to clarify that “sex” means biological sex, not gender identity.
Get Ready for More Drugs, More Illegals, More Terrorists and More Deaths
In a bit of bad news, the Supreme Court last week ruled that the Biden administration can move forward with terminating President Trump’s “Remain in Mexico” policy that allowed Customs and Border Patrol officials to keep illegal aliens in Mexico while their asylum claims were being processed. The Remain in Mexico policy prevented millions of illegal aliens from entering the United States.
This truck pictured above contained 51 illegal aliens who were locked in the back and abandoned by their drug cartel mule driver. They all died. Biden’s open borders are causing death everywhere. Illegal aliens are dying and so too are Americans dying in record numbers from fentanyl.
Unfortunately, the Supreme Court’s decision signals a green light to lawbreakers to come United States and rewards illegal activity. Why, you may ask? Because no illegal alien in their right mind would, once released, is going to show up at a court hearing where the outcome might result in his or her deportation.
Over 3.5 million illegal aliens have crossed the southern border since Biden claimed the Oval Office, including 50 individuals on the terrorist watch-list. 240,000 border crossings occurred just last month. Another 800,000 have evaded being caught and are now somewhere, anywhere in the United States. This is a conservative estimate, it’s probably much higher.
Adding to the border crisis drug overdoses have hit an all-time high.Since Biden took office, CBP has seized over one million pounds of illegal drugs, including 7,700 pounds of deadly fentanyl so far in FY22. Fentanyl is now the leading cause of death in Americans ages 18-45, our porous border is to blame for much of these deaths.
Did you know that two illegal aliens were caught just prior to implementing their plans for a mass murder on July 4th?
Joe Biden and House Democrats’ open borders, mass releases, and zero enforcement policies have created the worst border and drug crisis in our nation’s history. Congress and Joe Biden must get serious about this border invasion. We must codify the “Remain in Mexico” policy to start, finish the wall, and deport all lawbreakers entering America.
Gosar Honors Veterans
One of the most rewarding aspects of my job is recognizing the heroes who defend our freedoms. This week, I had the privilege to attend the 7thAnnual Veterans Treatment Court Family Day in Lake Havasu City. Sadly, one in five veterans have symptoms of a mental health disorder or cognitive impairment caused from combat service. Veterans Treatment Centers address the treatment needs of justice-involved veterans by providing a dignified and important alternative to traditional criminal processing. I am very proud of these veterans and their families!
It’s Mail Time!
I love hearing from you and you guys do not disappoint! I get thousands of letters every month and each week I highlight a handful of some that I receive. So, with that, let’s jump in and see what’s on your mind:
Richard H. from Flagstaff writes:
Thank you for inviting me to your roundtable discussion on this very important matter. Unfortunately, I cannot attend but I am very happy to see your interest and continued work on supporting real education for Arizona children. Thank you for all you do.
Dear Richard, I’m sorry you won’t be able to attend this very important roundtable. Educating America’s future leaders is critically important. Joe Biden and the extremist Leftists are doing all they can to indoctrinate our children with radical ideology and the education system is being weaponized to push an Anti-American agenda.
Russel G. from Yuma shares:
Thank you. Just a quick note to say thank you for representing the majority of Arizona voters. Keep up the fight against those who hate what America is all about. You have our vote.
Thanks, Russel! I am grateful for your support and thoughtful words.
Suzi B. from Chino Valley offers:
Once again, I want to say Thank you for your excellent representation and honesty!
So very thankful for the two recent Supreme Court decisions on the reversal of Roe v Wade and for your beautifully written comment and support of their decision in finally correcting this wrong. I pray along with you that Arizona will continue our current law protecting the lives of the unborn, and God helps us even the born for their God given and Constitutional right to life. Physicians that swear an oath to promote health have no place in this practice and should be subject to even more stringent penalty in my opinion.
Also to say Thank you for voting against the “red flag” proposal which would/will absolutely be mis used by this current regime and be subjective and arbitrary in execution.
Every law abiding citizen in the United States should have the right to bear arms as put forth so expertly by our founding fathers. They knew and were divinely inspired when they drafted against odds and not without peril our Constitution, Bill of Rights and Declaration of Independence.
They were also keenly aware that tyranny can only be countered and balanced when the citizens of a country have a means of self-protection. Additionally, these same citizens must have the ability to provide food through hunting, when necessary to their families and neighbors in times of need.
May God continue to Bless you in your efforts to be a voice for the state and people you represent and know that we appreciate and are praying for you daily.
Dear Suzi, for the first time in nearly 50 years, the life of innocent slaughtered babies finally have a voice. Countless more babies will no doubt be saved. There is nothing in the Constitution that provides the right to have an abortion.
Marjorie S. from Yuma writes:
I truly appreciate your voting record to support the rights of the 2nd amendment rights of law-abiding citizens. My husband and I believe that saving 2nd amendment rights for law abiding citizens will do more to protect against unlawful gun violence. AND, we believe that if current laws were enforced, that new laws would not be necessary.
Thank you for your wisdom and willingness to stand up for my 2nd amendment rights.
Thanks, Marjorie! Rest assured that I will always vote against any unconstitutional gun control legislation that infringes on you or your husband’s rights.
