The Casa Grande Elementary School District Governing Board will discuss the district’s policy on the penalties teachers have to pay for breaking their contracts with the district’s new superintendent, Adam Leckie, in July. A candidate running for the board raised the topic earlier this month and asked why the outgoing superintendent was not required to pay a penalty for breaking her contract. Also, a Casa Grande teen will serve three years in prison after pleading guilty to shooting at three people in a park in March. The teen will be sentenced at a later date.
And Maricopa motorists may soon have a smoother road to travel on their way to Phoenix. Republican legislators are earmarking $19 million to widen State Route 347, along with another $11.4 million for a new overpass at Riggs Road in the latest state budget proposal.
