The only requirements are MacFamilyTree 10 or MobileFamilyTree 10 and an iCloud account on both sides. So be sure to take advantage of our version 10 discount for both products until June 19th!

Top New Features of Version 10
Completely New Edit Section New Interactive Tree
We’ve added some major innovations to the edit section for you resulting in a much better use of space, easier editing, faster navigation, full customization, and the ability to switch between edit or display mode. Simply click on a field to enlarge it and show all possible entries. The new system helps you see what’s left to be explored and even features speech recognition for longer text entries. Additionally: You can even fully customize where you want each piece of content to be displayed. Changes you’ll notice at first glance: Significantly improved appearance and color scheme, as well as a much clearer display of generations and connections. What’s improved functionally: For the first time, complete editing is possible directly in the Interactive Tree. In the sidebar, you will find all the information previously only accessible via the edit section. MacFamilyTree 10 thus combines the best of two worlds – quick input and visually impressive presentation.
New: Virtual Tree –
Walk Through Your Family’s History
New: Source Management
Want to see your complete tree in one large view? As you surely know, this is mathematically impossible in two-dimensional space. Completely different in 3D, though: The re-developed Virtual Tree feature helps you visualize all persons and their connections at a glance. But that’s not all – for the first time it’s possible to directly display the connection between two persons.

Things get even more spectacular on the iPhone and iPad, where you can literally take a walk through your family history with the help of AR. Place your tree on the table or in the entire room – your family history is thus more tangible and vivid than ever.

The new source management helps you to record important information and to substantiate entries. Rely on pre-defined templates, generate your own ones or create freely configurable source types – all this ensures that your information is backed up with facts.

MacFamilyTree and MobileFamilyTree take you by the hand and show you what is relevant for each source type (book, document, census, etc.) and should be recorded. As if that were not enough, you can also specify exactly how source citations should be displayed in reports, lists and other views.

New: Scan via iPhone and iPad New: Person Groups
It has never been easier to scan photos or documents without a scanner! With the new MacFamilyTree, simply select an iPhone or iPad in the “Special Menu”. Then, use your iDevice’s camera to photograph documents and have them automatically straightened and cropped. Whether you want to digitize documents or quickly transfer an old photo album’s contents to MacFamilyTree or MobileFamilyTree, the possibilities are endless. Create as many groups as you would like (e.g. people from York, a specific family branch, relatives you know in person, or all emigrated relatives) to highlight in various colorful diagrams, reports, or in the Interactive Tree. Branches, sub-trees, and special family branches can be easily separated by defining person groups and you can also limit diagrams to individual groups.
The New User Interface Performance
Of course, the apps take full advantage of platform-specific features: MacFamilyTree is specifically designed for the Mac, whereas MobileFamilyTree is developed uncompromisingly for the iPhone and iPad – although the applications do share the same design language. For the first time, the newest version of MobileFamilyTree is completely on par with MacFamilyTree when it comes to editing. You can now navigate more easily and comfortably, and disable or re-sort features you don’t need. On Mac, you can also choose whether to use light or dark mode, independent of macOS. Just about everything is faster: from navigation and editing to reports, charts and 3D displays. Synchronization via CloudTree is also much faster and immediately noticeable during downloads and other tasks. FamilySearch also works much snappier, especially with many assigned people or many matches found for your relatives. Countless optimizations of the database also ensure that MacFamilyTree works more energy-efficiently – which saves you more battery life on a notebook.

Buy & Pricing
Only for a short time, MacFamilyTree as well as MobileFamilyTree are offered with a 50 % discount. This means that you can purchase MacFamilyTree 10 for just US$ 34.99 and MobileFamilyTree 10 for US$ 14.99. The price shown on the App Store already includes the discount and is indicated in your local currency.
Why Does an Upgrade Cost as Much as a New License?
Much to our regret, the Mac App Store doesn’t allow us to charge two different prices, differentiating between new customers and existing customers who simply want to update to the new version. We had to decide between charging full price to all customers – or offering a discount to all customers. We therefore decided that we wanted to give all version 10 customers a 50 % discount instead of charging full price to all customers, including previous customers. This offer is valid only until June 19th— no discounts for updates to version 10 will be available after this special offer.

To purchase version 10 or upgrade from a previous version, please purchase MacFamilyTree 10 or MobileFamilyTree 10 from the App Store – if you own a previous version of MacFamilyTree or MobileFamilyTree, your data will automatically be transferred into version 10.
