Last year, I joined with more than 150 top current and former public officials to launch a nationwide effort to counter political extremism. Under the banner of Renew America Movement (RAM), this group of former members of Congress, governors, party officials, business leaders, and others are taking on the most divisive members of Congress to slow the march of conspiracy theories, disinformation, and vitriol they spread from our halls of power.
Taking on extreme candidates is nothing new to me. I ran against Donald Trump twice (as a Vice Presidential candidate in 2016 and a Presidential candidate in 2020) because I saw how his rhetoric and policies would drive our great nation down a dangerous path. Extremist candidates are now running competitive campaigns across the country, from local school boards to U.S. Senate. It’s hard to believe that pro-Putin, election-denying conspiracy theorists have a place in our modern politics, but this wing of the GOP is loud and it is growing. That’s why I’m proud to support RAM, and I hope you’ll join me.

RAM has identified a slate of candidates who exemplify principled leadership, putting country over party, and reaching across the aisle to work on behalf of the American people. This cross-partisan list of “Renewers” is facing tough opposition from some of the most extreme candidates we’ve seen in modern politics, and they need the support of outside, independent groups like Renew America Movement.
RAM is also taking on some of the most divisive members of Congress this year, appropriately referred to as “Dividers.” While we know it’s an uphill battle, giving people like Lauren Boebert, Marjorie Taylor Greene, and Madison Cawthorn a free pass this election cycle is not an option. We cannot sit on the sidelines and throw our hands up in defeat and disgust. We must take this challenge on.
