I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself, Pat.

I’m Jason Crow, and I represent Colorado’s 6th district in Congress. I am working hard to address the climate crisis, find solutions to the gun violence epidemic, and ensure that our government works for the people, not corporations and special interests.

As a former Army Ranger who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, values like equality, duty, and justice hold a deep meaning to me.

I have seen firsthand the importance of the rule-of-law and how fragile democracy can be if we do not look after it. So when I was called upon to serve as an impeachment manager in Donald Trump’s first Senate impeachment trial, I stepped up to perform that duty for the sake of our democracy. There is no doubt in my mind that his enablers’ failure to hold him accountable led to one of the darkest days in our nation’s history: January 6.

The task before us now is to recognize that our democracy is only as strong as our willingness to uphold it. We have to advance our values, strengthen our democratic systems, and prevent corrupt leaders like Trump and his enablers from holding political office.
