Childcare is a Business Issue

The Current State of Childcare is Unbearable for Businesses and Parents Alike
The lack of affordable, quality childcare has created an impossible situation for parents, employers, and childcare providers across our nation. Wells Fargo reports that “employers are currently experiencing the toughest hiring market in decades. More businesses report difficulty filling open positions than at any time in the past half century.”
Employer-provided childcare is hitting the news. It’s promising that employers are seeing the value in thinking creatively about ways to build the childcare infrastructure to help working parents and the economy as a whole.
Although, for most American businesses providing childcare isn’t an option. Even a company as big as Walmart, could never afford to provide child care facilities to all 1.6 million of their employees. Businesses can’t do this alone, and they need a strong partner in the federal government to fund scaling and strengthen other market-based solutions.
Conditions for parents and businesses are simply unbearable.
