life is strange

This is from a friend who is a Ventura County Sheriff.

Soooooooo….life is strange, can be terrifying, and teaches us to live with disappointment. I am not a baker, so I won’t “sugar coat” it…I have had a few rough days in a row.

Yesterday I found out I was not selected for a job assignment I feel really passionate about. Disappointment grows character but does take its emotional toll.

Today I started my shift by calling the RP (Reporting Party) for the 87 year old gentleman I found injured in his home on Saturday. Unfortunately, the gentleman passed early this morning. The family was grateful (and so was I) that he got three (3) more days surrounded by family.”

Life is strange: After I hung up, I was driving on a busy street when suddenly, a car stopped in the middle of the road and turned on their hazard lights during moderate traffic conditions.

As it turns out, the 21 year old driver had seen me in her rear view mirror and decided to “flag me down”. With tears in her eyes, she told me she had made a decision and was headed to a remote area to kill herself by cutting her wrists. She saw me a few cars behind and decided to ask for help.

What are the odds that I was in the right place at the right time?!?!?! Life is strange…
