Ed Jeschor Scottsdale Jaycee

MESA, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) – Police say a man was arrested on Friday after admitting to officers he stabbed his father to death in his Mesa apartment after a trip to the grocery store. Court documents say that around 2 a.m. Friday, somebody called 911 because they were concerned about 43-year-old Jason Todd Jeschor and his father since they weren’t answering their phones. The person told officers that Jeschor’s father had gone to meet his son at his apartment near University Drive and Sossaman Road to take Jeschor grocery shopping Thursday afternoon, but he never came home. They also told officers that Jeschor had schizophrenia and was off of his medication.

Officers arrived at the apartment and Jeschor opened the door with a knife on his waistband, which police immediately took away, court paperwork said. He was then taken into custody. According to court documents, Jeschor told officers that his father was in the bathroom and that “he wasn’t doing well.” Jeschor told an officer that he believed his father and another person were threatening him and that his father was dead, according to court paperwork.

According to court documents, when asked what happened to his dad, Jeschor told officers, “I killed him.” Jeschor told police that his dad had taken him to the grocery store but when his debit card was declined, his father refused to pay. When the two returned to Jeschor’s apartment, he said that he stabbed his dad with a “homemade spear-like object” and then several times in the neck with a switchblade knife in the dining room area, according to court documents. The knife was the same one that was in his waist when officers arrived at the apartment.

According to police, Jeschor moved his father’s body and cleaned up the blood. Investigators said they found the “spear-like object” and cleaning supplies with blood on them. Court documents say that Jeschor did not admit any remorse for his actions and said that he believed the murder was justified, although he did not give a reason why. Jeschor was booked on one count of second-degree murder and one count of tampering with evidence.

Garvin W. Peterson

Scottsdale – Garvin W. Peterson of Scottsdale, AZ passed away January 31, 2022 one short week before his 80th birthday. He was born in Hamilton, Montana on February 7, 1942 to the late Everett and Margaret Peterson.

Garvin graduated from Montana State University in Bozeman, MT with a degree in mechanical engineering. In his career, Garvin worked for companies such as Honeywell and Motorola where he became passionate about the LEAN approach to manufacturing and received his Six Sigma Black Belt certification. Born to a long line of carpenters and contractors, Garvin was well versed in construction and before retiring started a home remodeling business with his son.

Garvin often told the story of falling in love with his wife of more than 55 years, Sue, when he was only 6 years old. The two married in Hamilton, Montana in 1963 and started their family the following year. They moved first to Minnesota, then in 1973 to Scottsdale. They never looked back. Garvin fell for the country music, cowboy hats, desert landscape, and endless Arizona sunshine. In the 70’s and 80’s, Garvin was a member of the Scottsdale Jaycees, serving as Parada Boss in 1983.

Garvin and Sue loved to travel, and for 25 years, the two traveled to dreamy locations across Europe and beyond. Their favorite destinations, however, were the nearby beaches of Mexico and Hawaii. When Sue passed away three years ago, Garvin played their favorite songs on repeat nearly everyday.

Above all, Garvin will be remembered for his unwavering integrity and wisdom that was specific, clear, and always came at just the right moment.

Garvin is preceded in death by his beloved wife Sue Peterson and his sister-in-law Mary Jo Millage. He is survived by his siblings: Harrell Peterson and Marilyn Burgeson, his five children: Lauri Hannah (Chris), Todd Peterson (Dawn), Bryce Peterson, Alicia Baskel (Marc), and Elizabeth Peterson (Christopher Andert), and his grandchildren: Grant, Trey, Shelby, Juliana, and Emilia. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Greg Millage and his nephew Gregory Millage.
