It’s simple: veterans exposed to these dangerous toxic substances have earned – and deserve – access to VA health care, and Congress needs to deliver on its responsibility to our veterans and pass our bipartisan legislation into law.
Many veterans don’t know if the symptoms they’re experiencing are due to toxic exposure, and these symptoms often take a long time to exhibit. Our bill expands the time in which veterans can apply to access VA care from 5 years to 10 years after being discharged, and it ensures every veteran receives a screening to find out if the symptoms they’re experiencing are due to toxic exposure.
And finally, our bill increases training for health care providers so they can be better equipped to recognize toxic exposure symptoms and get veterans the treatment they deserve.
This is a really important issue for Arizonans – and on behalf of our military families, I look forward to getting it done.
