We look forward to seeing everyone this Saturday, January 29, from 12 – 5 for the release of Hayner Original 6 Year Rye Whiskey. Hayner Distilling is located at 619 Lincoln Ave in Troy.
Imagine for a moment that the year is 1910. There are more horses than cars in Troy, so you likely ride into town on a horse. As you gallop down Water Street, you pass two enormous Hayner barrel houses aging over 150,000 barrels of whiskey. Just before the railroad tracks on Water Street you enter the Hayner Distilling lobby. You reach into your pockets, find $0.80, and splash it on the counter. The cashier looks up and says, “How do you do RJ?” She then reaches below the counter, grabs a bottle of Hayner 6 Year Rye Whiskey, just like the one above, and slides it across the counter to you and says, “See you next week RJ.”
Over one hundred years later, you can once again buy Hayner 6 Year Rye Whiskey. The sales process is a little different, the world is definitely different, but the bottle looks the same and the whiskey is even better.
Hayner Original Rye is the first offering in our Vintage Series. The Vintage Series features antique Hayner whiskey labels from 1866-1920. This year’s label is a recreation of a label used by Hayner Distilling in 1910.
To create Hayner Original Rye, we took the best 6 year barrels from our first rye blend, and bottled them straight at 90 proof. That first Hayner Rye blend recently won a Double Gold medal, the highest award possible, at the prestigious John Barleycorn Spirits Competition in New York. We know Hayner Original 6 Year Rye will soon win its own awards.
Hayner Original Rye bottles are hand numbered and the first 1,000 will go on sale Saturday, January 29 at noon at 619 Lincoln Ave in Troy. Bottle number 1 was donated to the Hayner Whiskey Museum. Bottle numbers 2 – 1000 will be sold in numerical order.
See you Saturday, no horses please.
