The FBI has captured a man known as the “Back Again Bandit,” who allegedly robbed 23 banks in Arizona between the end of 2020 and Oct. 25, 2021, including two in Casa Grande and a third in Maricopa.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety brought a high-speed chase on Interstate 10 near Eloy to an end when a trooper deployed a Grappler to bring the fleeing vehicle to a halt. Never heard of a Grappler? Neither had we. But we found this video, which does a pretty good job explaining how it works. Maybe it’s the solution this reader was hoping for.
Pay raises: Pinal County deputies will receive a bump in pay to make the agency more competitive with neighboring jurisdictions, following the approval of a budget amendment by the Board of Supervisors.
And local Sheriff’s deputies aren’t the only ones. Starbucks announced plans to raise employee wages in the US, along with other changes, to improve working conditions in its stores.
And a few more things to keep in mind today:
– The Pride of Casa Grande: The Casa Grande Union High School band finished No. 1 in a statewide competitionat the Walden Grove Marching Festival in Sauhaurita. The band will march into its next competition this week at the University of Arizona’s Band Day and Championships.
– Metro Phoenix tops the list— spending more money on transportation than other U.S. metro according to figures from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. How can that be? Because Phoenix area drivers spend more to purchase vehicles than anywhere else in the country.
