This Week With Gosar

PHOENIX, AZ – Here are our top stories…

Another Record Set—Record Failure by Biden on the Border

The data is in and the invasion along our southern border continues. 191,000 illegal immigrants were apprehended after crossing the border in September.  This is the highest number of border crossings EVER in the month of September.  This September beat the previous September record by almost 100,000. October could be worse.  Border Patrol officials are warning that as many as 400,000 illegal immigrants may cross the southern border next month. 60,000 are already at gathering at the border, just waiting.  Their intention is to cross, and they will. There is a crisis at the border and Mr. Biden just doesn’t give a damn.

Coming to a Town Near YOU!

We also learned this week that Mr. Biden is secretly flying planeloads of illegal immigrants under the cover of darkness to different states, including Texas, Florida and New York. Records show many of the planes landing between midnight and 6:30 AM. Two arrived 2:13 AM and 4:29 AM. After deplaning, the illegal aliens board buses and are transported and dispersed across many states. The Biden administration is spreading the crisis along the southern border all around the country.  At least 160,000 illegal immigrants have been released into the interior of the United States by the Biden administration since March, their final destination? Unknown.

Gosar Highlights Water Shortage Fixes During Colorado River Hearing

This week, the House Natural Resources Committee held a hearing entitled the “Colorado River Drought Conditions and Response Measures.”  I used my time at the hearing to focus on the importance of finding solutions to our water challenges and protecting ranchers, farmers, communities and tribes as we manage our water resources.

Water fights are nothing new to Arizona, but the competition for water is increasingly a zero-sum game, where there are only losers and worse losers. That’s because misguided urban policies attempt to reduce per capita consumption of water use, but the fact is the regions are still growing. As a result, we see demand for water continue to rise. Meanwhile, drought, species conservation, and increased demand all result in agencies, courts, and water masters looking to cut water allotments. Arizona, and the West at large, needs new supply from creative solutions like desalination, advances in atmospheric water generation, and other options that grow our water resources instead of finding ways to do less with less.

Gosar Objects to Vaccination Mandates for Federal Firefighters

Mr. Biden’s reckless vaccine mandate is putting the West in jeopardy. Wildland firefighters, who professionally risk their lives, must choose between their own personal health or being fired for refusing the COVID-19 shot. These heroes protect our communities and put their lives at risk every day. They are overstretched and overworked.  They should not have to wire about losing their jobs for choosing to not receive the vaccine. Mr. Biden is putting our commuting at risk, especially during this intense wildfire season. Almost 6.5 million acres have burned from more than 47,000 fires this year. In response, I sent a letter raising grave concern with these leftist policies further burdening the West.

Gosar Knocks Yavapai Regional Medical Center’s Mandatory Vaccine Policy

For weeks, citizens in our community have protested outside Yavapai Regional Medical Center (YRMC) over its decision to mandate the COVID-19 vaccine. Our healthcare providers have made the best medical decisions for themselves, and their employers do not get to subvert this. To date, nearly 20% of reported COVID-19 cases are Americans who work in the healthcare industry. Thus, many have natural immunity which is known to be more effective than the vaccine.  YRMC’s vaccine mandate could lead to the potential loss of 1100 doctors and nurses. We cannot afford healthcare shortages. This mandate should be eliminated.

This week, I sent a letter to YRMC leadership in support of the doctors and nurses whose jobs are on the line due to this mandate. There is a growing and strong grassroots movement among the American people to not be a forced test-tube for a vaccine barely a year old. This is neither anti-vaccine or pro-vaccine, this is the express intent of healthcare providers and citizens to make their own medical decisions absent political pressure.

Gosar Seeks Answers to the Ongoing Supply Chain Crisis

The number of Biden-created crises grow by the day. The latest one is Mr. Biden’s supply chain crisis in the United States.  Due to labor shortages and growing backlogs, these disruptions are now estimated to last through 2022, delaying deliveries of everything from food to life-saving prescriptions. The delays at ports, railyards and warehouses stem directly from extreme labor shortages caused in large part by the Biden Administration’s and Congressional Democrat’s misguided policy to pay people NOT to work.  Compounding problems, chronic shipping delays are contributing to inflation – inflation caused by Mr. Biden’s reckless and unnecessary spending spree.  And what is Mr. Biden’s response to the supply chain crisis?  Spend another $3.5 trillion and raise taxes across the board.

To better understand Mr. Biden’s approach to solving the supply chain crisis, I joined several of my Republican colleagues requested a briefing from the White House Supply Chain Disruptions Task Force. I’ll keep you updated on this latest Biden-created crisis.

On a related note, because of our reliance on China and to keep our shelves stocked, our economic prosperity is in their hands. In response, I have become a co-sponsor of the BEAT CHINA Act to bolster domestic manufacturing and reduce America’s overdependence on global supply chains. This bill encourages reshoring by providing the tax advantages to manufacturers that move to the U.S. from abroad.

Full text of the legislation is available here.

More Crime and Mayhem from Afghan “Refugees”

Tragically, another woman has been raped by an Afghan “refugee.” As reported last month, the Biden Administration’s humiliating loss in Afghanistan resulted in the ill-conceived evacuation of 125,000 Afghans, none of them vetted. This has resulted in sex crimes against our troops and now another rape, this time of a precious 18 year old girl.

I agree wholeheartedly with my colleague, Rep.  Rosendale who recently noted that “these unvetted Afghans do not share our culture and our values, and as this horrific incident shows they represent a serious risk to our communities, we cannot allow this administration to continue to jeopardize the safety of our communities and the security of our nation in the name of empathy.”

Mineral Monday

###

Mineral Monday – Recently, I introduced The Stopping Terrorist Minerals Trade Act. Americans paid nearly $90M for geological surveys and other infrastructure designed to help Afghanistan. After Biden’s disastrous pull-out, those precious resources are now in Taliban hands. NO!

Picture of the Week

“Then you will call upon me and come to pray to me, and I will  hear you.”

-Jeremiah 29:12

Other Highlights From This Week

Civil asset forfeiture has gone from a productive tool of law enforcement to massive government overreach. Today, it is used to seize, forfeit, and profit off property that may or may not be tied to criminal activity. To protect innocent property owners, I cosponsored the Fifth Amendment Integrity Restoration (FAIR) Act to raise the level of proof necessary for the federal government to seize property, restore innocent until proven guilty, remove the profit incentive to seize property, protects the right to counsel, and more.
