For 82.4 million people around the world currently displaced and suffering from the trauma, stress and anxiety that comes from fleeing one’s home country, quality mental health care is simply not available.

We’re looking for 1,000 names on our pledge by midnight tonight, but we’re still missing yours:

Sign our pledge now and let us know if you believe that refugees deserve quality mental health care.Sign the pledge now

Peter,

5.5 million people have escaped civil war in Syria. Jordan has welcomed 650,000 Syrians, and though they may have found safety, they still live with constant reminders of what they’ve left behind.

Mustafa, a grandfather and Syrian refugee living in Jordan, has struggled with trauma responses after relocating his family.

Americares partners with Jordan’s Royal Health Awareness Society to address trauma and loss for Syrian refugees, adding mental health services to an existing chronic disease program. This program taught stress reduction techniques to help lower blood pressure and blood sugar thereby easing the physical and mental effects of trauma.

And while Mustafa will never regain what he’s left behind in Syria, he now has the tools and capacity to enjoy what he does have – his garden and family, and especially his grandson.

For Mustafa, and for all of us, good health includes mental health. Around the world, Americares disaster response programs include support for mental health for refugees and people impacted by poverty and disaster. But this work would not be possible without supporters like you. So please, will you sign our pledge before midnight tonight and let us know: Do you believe refugees deserve access to quality mental health care?

Thank you for your support today.
