Yesterday we ran a story on how the pandemic has impacted ongoing efforts by the city of Casa Grande to provide aid to homeless individuals in our area. On that same note, Pinal County recently received a one-time $2.2 million grant to provide shelter and other services to those experiencing homelessness as part of the American Rescue Plan Act.
Phil Bond and his wife Julie founded the Avocado Nursery, near Signal Peak, nearly 30 years ago. Julie passed away in 2013, and Phil continued to oversee the nursery until his death in August. In his will, he left the nursery to one of his most loyal employees. Meet Adel Diego, the new owner of the Avocado Nursery.
And here’s what else is going on around Pinal today:
– The Casa Grande Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred Thursday in the area of Ocotillo Street, leaving one person injured. But, according to police, witnesses have been uncooperative.
