CROWN Act Updates

Dear CROWN Act Supporter,

We have exciting news to share as we continue to work to Create a Respectful and Open World for Natural hair. The CROWN Act movement has been center stage in multiple spaces and places recently, including:

Red Table Talk
Los Angeles County Supervisor Holly J. Mitchell and Chastity Jones, a victim of hair discrimination, joined Jada Pinkett-Smith, her daughter Willow, and her mother Gammy on their latest Red Table Talk Extra spotlighting race-based hair discrimination and the CROWN Act. You can watch and share the exclusive Red Table Talk segment here

Good Morning America
Good Morning America featured the heartbreaking story of 7-year-old Jurnee, after a student and teacher cut her hair without permission at school. During the segment, Jurnee’s father shared the traumatic impact experienced by his daughter spotlighting the importance of the CROWN Act and how legislation will protect children nationwide. The momentum is growing! Illinois and Gwinnett County, GA have ended hair discrimination. To date, fourteen (14) states (CA, NY, NJ, VA, CO, WA, MD, CT, NM, DE, NE, NV, OR, IL) and thirty-one (31) municipalities have signed the CROWN Act or legislation inspired by the CROWN Act.

There is still more work to be done! Email your U.S. Senator using our template here and continue to share the CROWN Act petition with your friends, family, and community.

On behalf of Dove and the CROWN Coalition, thank you for your continued support of the CROWN Act. Together we can end hair discrimination once and for all!

Best,
