Senator Sinema

Rj,

Earlier this month, we met with Arizona leaders to discuss how we can protect Arizona communities, secure the border, expand job opportunities, and fuel Arizona’s economic recovery.
During our meeting with the senior leadership of Arizona’s National Guard, we heard directly about their needs and how we can support the Guard’s mission at the border to keep Arizonans safe and ensure migrants are treated fairly and humanely. We discussed our Bipartisan Border Solutions Act, which we recently introduced to improve the federal government’s ability to manage border crises by increasing federal resources and reducing the impact on local communities.

We also hosted a roundtable discussion with Arizona tourism leaders to discuss COVID-19’s impacts on Arizona’s travel and tourism industry, identify ways to expand economic opportunities, and highlight how the recent coronavirus-relief law will help Arizona continue to be a top tourism destination. Tourism and restaurants are a driving force in Arizona’s economy, which is why we were proud that our Restaurant Rescue Plan helps independent restaurant owners register for grants to help them recover from the coronavirus pandemic.

As Arizona recovers from the pandemic, we will continue working with leaders across the aisle and across the state to keep Arizonans safe, secure the border, create jobs, expand opportunities, and fuel Arizona’s economic recovery.
Sincerely,
