Bright, crisp, lively and refreshing; there is no doubt that this is a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. Explosive aromas of tropical fruit, lychee and pineapple lead to big flavors of grapefruit, mango, papaya, gooseberry and lime. This Sauvignon Blanc is great on its own as an aperitif or paired with oysters, sushi, gazpacho or spicy Thai chicken noodles.
Cabernet Sauvignon from Dunnigan Hills, Yolo County, California
The wine opens with enticing aromas of saddle leather, cigar box, and mesquite. The mouth-coating flavors of blackberry, black cherry, clove, and star anise linger in the long finish. This is a substantial Cabernet with big chewy tannins that will pair well with the big flavors of a slow-roasted prime rib, a hearty beef stew, or a sizzling New York strip steak.
Pinot Noir from Russian River, Sonoma County, California
The beautiful ruby color of the 2019 Pinot Noir in the glass leads to enticing aromas of cherry, chocolate and a hint of leather. The flavors follow through with sweet black cherry, cranberry, cocoa and oak spice. This classic Pinot Noir is plush and full-flavored with a bright finish that cleanses the palate for another sip.
Strong, muscular, massive. Words that define Hercules when he planted two pillars astride the parting of the Strait of Gibraltar opening the old world to the new. When Matchbook set out to create a bold wine, we chose to base our Pillars on the pillars of flavor from the Dunnigan Hills: Petite Sirah, Petit Verdot and Teroldego. This is a chewy, dense, full-bodied blend for those seeking a big red wine.
The 2016 Arsonist Red Blend has expansive aromas of violet, rose petal, saddle leather and orange peel. Broad flavors of blackberry, plum and cassis fill the palate; a hint of dark chocolate and baking spice adds complexity to the blend. Firm, but refined tannins add good structure and long, silky finish. Power and grace in a bottle! Blend: 52% Petit Verdot, 26% Malbec, 22% Cabernet Sauvignon
Groth Sauvignon Blanc 2019 (Buy 1 Case, Get 2 More Bottles for 1 Cent)
Sauvignon Blanc from Napa Valley, California
Groth Sauvignon Blanc is produced from grapes grown in various microclimates of the Napa Valley. The warmer areas give grapes with melon and citrus characteristics in both aroma and flavor. The cooler areas of Napa Valley provide fruit with a solid, crisp backbone that gives the wine an exciting liveliness and balances the rich creaminess from sur lie aging. The Semillon is grown on the Groth Oakville Estate vineyard and is harvested with the Estate Sauvignon Blanc, contributing roundness and weight to the mouthfeel.
Pinot Noir from Edna Valley, Central Coast, California
2018 may go in history as the longest season yet. A good amount of rain fell in the region which gave to a later bud break in April. The vines were energized by the much needed moisture, setting one of our best crops yet. The weather remained steady from spring through June. Then we received a long heat wave that fortunately did not affect the quality of the grapes due to the fact that it was before the start of veraison. A cooling trend ensued for the rest of the season right after the heatwave, prolonging the hang time leading into harvest. The long hang time yielded deep color and concentration with dense wines. The tannins are silky and beautifully integrated. As a result, 2018 was an exceptional vintage that really highlights the aromatics and acidity of the wines.
